 STUDY HINTS/SUGGESTIONS FOR THE STUDENTS:

Am I:

1.  attentive in class when the teacher or any of my fellow-students is explaining part of the lesson?  That is being an active listener.

2.  doing all I can to create a class atmosphere that is both positive and encouraging.

3.  coming to class with a good  ATTITUDE – it’s my CHOICE.  Do I choose to do the work.  Do I choose to learn.  Do I RESPECT my peers’ right to learn, respect my teacher and his efforts to provide opportunities for all of the students in the classroom.  Raising my hand and waiting to be called on before speaking.

4.  taking notes in class and reviewing these notes in an attempt to understand the material better?

5.  following good study procedures when I do my classwork/homework?  For example, each night do I briefly review the previous day's lesson in an attempt to see some continuity in what I am doing?

6.  asking for extra help on those topics which I do not understand? Do I ask questions in class, do I see the teacher for help, do I work with friends on problems which I cannot get?

7.  voluntarily taken part in class discussions, and volunteering to put problems on the board when I could?

8.  giving this particular mathematics class a chance or have I concluded that it is too hard for me, I do not like it, and I will never understand it, so what is the use of trying very hard?

9.  really been spending as much time as I should in studying my Algebra? That is, Have I been STUDYING 10-15 minutes on math almost every night or have I just been putting in time with my books?

10. regular in my attendance to class and is it been as good as it could be?

 SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENT(S)/GUARDIAN(S):

This school year the school wants of the members of the Clemente learning community, student, parent/guardian, and teacher to work together. It is important for home and school to join hands. By fostering a positive attitude about math at home we can help our children learn math at school. Please try to talk to you child about the math s/he is learning and try to check their progress by looking at parent portal.

I look forward to a successful year working with you and your child. I hope that s/he will develop:

a.  a positive attitude toward math,

b.  critical thinking skills,

c. enhanced computation skills and

d.  good study habits

This plan has been designed to provide the most favorable conditions possible in which to learn. Your child has read and understands it as evidenced by his/her signature on the form below, and we have discussed this in class. Please sign the form below and have your child return tomorrow.

I appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Sincerely,

Mr. Iqbal
