CLASS MISSION STATEMENT

We, the 8th grade class with the direction of Mrs. Caroselli, will hereby honor the following class mission statement:

  We will strive to earn A & B’s securing our place on the Honor Roll and Principal’s List

 We will establish and meet our reading, writing and math score goals

 We will develop and implement various initiatives as we develop into leaders of the future

  We will set the example for the grades below us because we are the seniors of the building demonstrating fine tuned leadership qualities, responsibility and productivity

  WE BELIEVE IN US!

CLASSROOM DISCIPLINE
All students are expected to comply with the Class Rules as well as district policies. Below is my Class Management system:

GRADING SYSTEM

The grading system is determined by the district and is on a point system. Grade is weighted as follows:
Assessment: 40%
Assignment: 40%
Final Exam: 20%

CLASSWORK
Work is due at the deadline provided. Students are expected to meet all deadlines. Special situations are determined at the discretion of the teacher. Work is to be submitted in either Study Sync or Google Classroom (whichever is indicated). Plagiarism of any assignment will result in an automatic F. 
 
PROJECTS
A project will be given each quarter. Due dates are indicated on the rubric. Projects can consist of book reports, research papers, oral reports, and poetry recitals. Plagiarism will result in an automatic F on the project.
 
LATE ASSIGNMENTS & EXTRA CREDIT
Late assignments will results in a grade of 75 and below. Only students who were absent will be excused. They will have days equal to the amount of the time absent (example: out 2 days- 2 days to submit missing work) to complete missing work. They are to check in the Absent Crate to see what was missed. All students are expected to adhere to due dates. 
 
I DO NOT GIVE EXTRA CREDIT.
 
Virtual Learning Procedure: Late work is to be submitted with an email to the teacher with the name of the assignment. If you do not submit an email, the assignment will not be graded.
 
CELL PHONES
Cell phones are not permitted in class unless the teacher gives permission. Penalties are as follows:
  • 1st offense- verbal warning
  • 2nd offense- cell phone is confiscated and returned at the end of the school day
  • 3rd offense- Parent Contact with a referral
 
FOOD & BEVERAGES
Food of any kind including candy is NOT allowed in class. It is will confiscated and thrown away. Water is the only beverage that can be consumed in the room. Failure to comply with this rule will result in the loss of points/rewards. Birthday parties and other celebrations are NOT allowed. This includes Valentine's Day and the Holiday Season.
 
TOYS & SPEAKERS
Toys and speakers of any kind are not permitted in school. Items will be confiscated.
 
EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES, SCHOOL DANCES & FREE FRIDAYS
Students must earn the privilege of participating in extracurricular activities. Those who do not earn the required points or who constantly break the rules will not be allowed to participate. They will be sent to another classroom or to the office with work.
