Progress reports were sent home on Tuesday.  They are due today.  Please turn-in your progress report.

We continued the geography bee today.  All students will be asked 7 questions over the course of the next week.  If students participate with a good attitude, students can earn participation points for history class!  Do your best and give it a try!  (It will not hurt your grade if you don’t get the correct answer.)  If you were absent today, you will get your make-up question when you return.

Today we continued with our introduction to chapter 3.  In order to be prepared for our study, students completed the assignment “Most Important” on nbk. p. 62.  This assignment is due tomorrow.  Attach the directions to nbk. p. 62 and complete the work.  Your paragraph should include a topic sentence (TOP) and at least 3-4 supporting detail sentences.

Most Important…

What is the most important building in your neighborhood or community?  Make a simple colored drawing of the building.  Write a paragraph describing how the building is used.  Make sure you write in full sentences.  Be careful of your capitalization, spelling and punctuation.

* Class Work - Exploratory:

We did not watch CNN current events today.

Today students worked on an author page introduction.  Please attach the directions to nbk. page 1 of your notebook.  Complete the work.  Mrs. Claassen will check this assignment tomorrow.

Today we started our study of chapter 3 – The Roman Catholic Church in Medieval Europe.  You must do the following two items:

  1. Take the chapter 3 pre-test.  This will not count as a grade, but gives me good information about your background knowledge and growth during the chapter.  It only takes a few minutes to take the pre-test.
  2. Create a title page for chapter 3.  On nbk. p. 59 write:

Chapter 3

The Roman Catholic Church in Medieval Europe

* Class Work - Exploratory:

We did not watch CNN current events today.

Students come to a current events class with many questions.  One of the questions asked at the start of our time together pertained to a desire to understand more about the background of World War II.  Therefore, today’s discussion finished building background knowledge on the topic.  Topics from WWII tend to connect frequently with current events today around the world.

Progress reports were handed-out yesterday.  Please return the progress report by Thursday for points.
