Unit 4 At Home Project

Unit 4 Project for Mrs. Gray’s StudentsDue by Monday, May 18, 2009 – NO EXCEPTIONS- 

Read a chapter book related to our theme (5th grade= Making a New Nation, 6th grade=Beyond the Notes).

Write a book report connecting your book to one of the stories in our theme.

Criteria for your report:

  1. must be at least 2 handwritten pages or 1 double-spaced typed page (times new roman font size 12, 1 inch margins)
  2. include setting of book, characters,  problem(conflict),  solution(resolution), main events
  3. {This part will have to be done by hand; not using a computer}include a double bubble thinking map (like what we’ve made in class) comparing and contrasting your book to one of the stories in our unit  - DO NOT MAKE A VENN DIAGRAM
  4. other pertinent information about your book; i.e. was there a particular character you felt a connection with, was there a part of the book that you especially enjoyed, did this book open any new windows of interest for you?
  5. include at least one paragraph discussing how this book added to your knowledge about the theme topic and how it connected

If you go to your local library and they don’t have a certain book, chances are they can order it from another library and there’s not too long of a turn-around time.  These books are only suggestions.  You may read any chapter book AS LONG AS YOU CAN CONNECT IT TO THE THEME.
