My name is Kristen Huebner. This my 9th year teaching, but my first year teaching first grade! I knew that I wanted to be a teacher when I was young. My fifth grade teacher inspired me to pursue this dream. I went to Houghton College in Allegany County, NY for my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Psychology. My teaching career started in a 5th grade classroom in CT. After my first year teaching, my husband and I got married and moved to NY, where I was hired to teach 6th grade. After a year of teaching 6th grade, I transferred to 2nd grade where I stayed for four years. During this time, I attended Cortland University for a master's degree in Literacy and completed work for my Literacy Specialist certificate. Also during this time, my husband and I grew our family with the birth of our son, Noah, in 2005 and our daughter, Karis, in 2007. My final year teaching in NY, I transferred to a kindergarten classroom.
In June of 2008, our family moved back to VT, where my husband grew up. I was hired at Albert Bridge to teach 4th grade. It was thrilling to know that I was going to teach in the same school my husband attended! I was blessed enough to have the opportunity to transfer to first grade for this year. I am looking forward to a new challenge!
