 Heart Smart!

The students LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the "Heart Smart Snack Shack"  healthy snacks that have been sent in.  If you are able to provide any kind of healty snack, please send it in with your child .
Studies show that children will imitate the behaviors of their peers, so if they see their friends eating healthy snacks, then they will be more willing to try new/healthy foods too.  .  You do not need to provide enough for everyone in the class.  If several families contribute some things, then the class will have a "buffet' of healthy snacks from which to choose.  : - )

We are past the 1/2 way point in our school year.  By now your child should know the 0 to 18 math facts, be able to count coins and make change, and, add and subtract 2 digit numbers.  At this time, your child should be able to read and comprehend books in the 450 lexile range, and his/her fluency rate should fall around 80 words per minute.  Your child should be able to write a cohesive 2-paragraph story.      We will discuss these markers at Parent Conferences March 3rd - 5th.  Until then, PLEASE continue to have your child read daily, practice their math facts, and complete their homework assignments under parent supervision.
