I am Jana Sander and I am so happy to be a part of the Marengo Elementary staff.
Growing up, I cannot remember a time that I didn’t want to be a teacher! I spent almost every afternoon in my room playing school, where my dolls were all lined up as the “students.” I loved having all of the wonderful “school stuff” including my first grade book. My mom is a teacher and I hope to have been blessed with her wonderful teaching gene.
I was raised in Valparaiso, Indiana but migrated south to attend the University of Southern Indiana, where I graduated from in May of 2006. I have a Bachelors degree in elementary education along with a minor in early childhood education, as well as a kindergarten endorsement. In June of 2008, I married my wonderful husband, Kent, and made my permanent home here in Southern Indiana. We live in Celestine where my husband runs his business, Sander Processing.
I am very excited to be teaching the kindergarten-first grade split class again this year. This is the second year we have had this class here at Marengo and it really offers a unique experience to the students.
As your child's teacher, I would love to make learning an exciting and enriching experience. My goal is for every student to love school as much as I do. Our classroom will be a safe place, where all the children will feel able to learn to the best of their potential.
Let’s have a wonderful year!
