Holly Cihla

Hello!  I just want to take a moment to introduce myself.  My name is Holly Cihla and I'm brand new to not only CJHS, but District #86 as well.  This is my 17th year teaching, and the last 13 have been with District #150 in Peoria at PHS.  I am thrilled to be a part of the team here!

I am a single mom of three- two of my own, and an adopted daughter.  My two are 19 and 13, a sophomore in college, and an 8th grader.  My adopted daughter is awaiting a job in the medical field as a CNA, so she can persue her education as a nurse.  We have a house full of pets as well.  Two cats, Nala and Endora, over 20 mice (yes, you read that right) and we recently adopted a dog- Reese!  There is never a dull moment in our house.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy baking, cooking, reading (Stephen King, Cassandra Clare, and J.R. Ward), and spending time with my kids and family.  Family is a huge thing for me, and we try to spend as much time together, including my parents and siblings.  I am not a fan of professional sports, but I am an avid fan of high school football and college football.  This is due to all my former students that have gone on to play college ball.  Does watching Cupcake Wars count as pro-sports?  If so, then I watch that!

I hope you noticed the color changes.  The gold/purple represents WIU, where my daughter Kenzie attends.  The red/blue represents the University of Kansas Jayhawks, where I earned my Master's Degree in Special Education.  The red/white represents ISU, where I earned my Bachelor's in Special Education as well as PCHS where I graduated high school.  And lastly, this blue/gold represents Central Junior High School where I plan to retire from and make my final career move.  Thank you for allowing me the priviledge of teaching your children!
