Greetings Eagle Family!
My name is Abbe Dirling and I'll be your child's Biology teacher this year! When I was growing up, I was never asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, but rather what did I want to teach. I continued my education at The Pennsylvania State University where I earned a degree in Secondary Education: Biological Sciences Option with a minor in Developmental Psychology. I earned my Master's in STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics education from The California University of Pennsylvania.
This is my seventh year teaching high school Biology and my fifth year with Pittsburgh Public Schools. For the last four years, I was the 9th grade Biology and AP Biology teacher at Westinghouse 6-12. I am excited about my transfer and look forward to sharing my passion for Biology with my students! It is my personal belief that education does not start and stop at the threshold of my classroom; it is essential to build a relationship with both my students and their families to ensure that all students can expect great things in their education.
