Ms. Litz's 3rd Grade Musings

Welcome to our 3rd Grade Safari!

"To teach is to touch a life."

Hello! My name is Ms. Megan Litz and I am so excited for you all to join me in our 3rd grade adventure this year!

A Little Bit About Me...

The 2010-2011 school year will be my first year of teaching! I am so pleased that I get to begin my teaching career at Eugene Field A Plus School with all of you. Laughing

I was born in Omaha, Nebraska but moved here to Sioux Falls only two short years later, which is where I grew up. I attended O'Gorman High School here in Sioux Falls, where I thoroughly enjoyed being involved in the fine arts department. I went on to attend the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minnesota. I majored in elementary education, concentrating in communication arts and literature with a minor in music. I completed my student teaching in the fall of 2009. I taught 3rd grade at a small school that I fell in love with called St. Boniface in Cold Spring, Minnesota and 7th grade language arts at North Junior High in St. Cloud, Minnesota. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in December 2009.

I have always had a passion for music, and singing is my favorite hobby. I have been in more choirs than I can count over the years! We will most definitely being having a lot of fun with music in our classroom this year. Smile Besides singing, I also enjoy reading, scrapbooking, photography, and kickboxing in my free time!

My Classroom Philosophy

Above all things, I want our classroom to be a place where all children feel safe and loved, and a place they can enjoy themselves! I firmly believe in Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. We will be basing our classroom community around the multiple intelligences. Everyone learns differently, so by implementing academic lessons centered around all forms of intelligence, rather than what one might traditionally think of as intelligence, all children are allowed to shine in the classroom and enjoy learning! With the students' help, I will strive to find what intrinsically motivates each child.
