Acceptable Technology Use Policy for students and parents to sign
An Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is an important document that governs students’ use of the internet at school and covers a wide range of issues surrounding the rights, responsibilities, and privileges – as well as sanctions – connected with computer use.
- It covers all technology used by foundation users in performing their jobs including, for example, personal computers, mobile phones, and online services.
- AUP must address all the stakeholders involved. It should address acceptable and unacceptable online activity - encouraging positive endeavors while prohibiting bad choices.
- Typically, the devices are to be used only for instructional purposes, pending approval by each school’s principal, and the specific classroom teacher
ASPECTS TO CONSIDER WHEN CREATING AN ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
- Did you use clear easy to understand language?
- Does it use positive language or list does and don'ts?
- Does the AUP focus on student behavior instead of devices?
- Does the AUP cover all your needs?
