Christmas Concert, Art Show, Title I Night, Secret Santa Shoppe, Dads and Donuts, Santa's Visit, Classroom Parties, Basketball! Wow, what a month we have had here at North Wood! If you think this was a lot, you should've seen the learning we did! Students have been working hard at mastering their SMART goals!
Many classes have taken their quarterly common assessments, and others will take them after returning from break. Some students are taking advantage of Supplemental Educational Services (SES) tutoring on Mondays and Wednesdays after school. Others are working after school with their teachers to master academic concepts and skills. In the elementary grades, some students qualify for Response to Intervention ( RtI) during which they work in small groups and one-on-one with interventionists to increase their achievement levels in reading fluency and comprehension. In the middle school, students are assessed each week, grouped into either enrich or reteach groups. The enrich groups are provided with opportunities to extend their application of concepts. The reteach groups are provided with additional instruction to help them understand concepts they failed to grasp during the given week.
Emints laptops have arrived for 7th and 8th grades. PTO generously purchased flip video cameras for each classroom. Next "year" looks to be full of technology-assisted learning!
We at North Wood wish all families a happy holiday season!
