Term 1: Current Events ~ Spain

Use the internet to find a current event for Spain. You will then need to turn in a one page write-up including your name and period, the title of the article, and two paragraphs, each at least 5 sentences. The first paragraph should summarize the article, and the second paragraph should give your reaction – why you think this is important or interesting.

Staple a copy of the article you are reviewing to the back of your write-up.

The articles must have some connection to Spain. It is even better if there's also a connection in the article to the United States or to global news.

The articles must have some depth to them. Half-page articles and press releases tend to be insufficient unless there's something really exceptional about them. You can probably do a decent job in fifteen or twenty minutes, but you cannot do it in three minutes.

The articles must be recent – within the previous two weeks. If you find something older and you really want to do it, talk to me about it.

This assignment has a few unconventional rules, to make it an exercise in time management as well as current events:

  • Assignments MUST be turned in by Thursday, November 5th at 2:15. ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • You may NOT turn in more than one event.
  • Remember that extra credit is just that, EXTRA. All focus should be on doing a great job on REGULAR credit assignments.

***GRADING***

  • Assignments will be graded on a 1 – 4 point scale. This grade will then be added to the students test average. NOT their final average.
