I have the opportunity to work with all the children at Trinity. Children who need additional reading help are referred to me by the teacher and then are seen for individaul or group therapy. The child may work with me for the whole year or until their skills are mastered. The program is based on the Orton-Gillingham multisensory approach . The children also use the computer and other resources to enhance their reading.
I have been a speech-language therapist for thirty years and a reading therapist for twenty-five years. I received my BA from North Carolina State University and my M.Ed from LSU. I have my CCC-SPL certificate in speech pathology. Throughout my thirty years I have worked with all ages. Initially I worked with trainable and educable mentally retarded children and then taught for ten years a speech-langauge delayed class at the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Clinic. I have also taught three-year-olds at St. Lukes and Trinity while continuing private therapy.
I love working with children and I love working at the school my own children attended!
