Writing contests from teenink.com: https://www.teenink.com/Contests

Additional (legitimate) Contests: https://thewritelife.com/writing-contests/

PLEASE be careful with looking up any online contests. Some want money, and some take your work away from you. Always ask an adult to help you with the fine print.

Let's begin our online magazine! You will write 1 or more paragraphs about one of the topics from this list. You may write and publish with someone if you like. You will need to fill out a permission slip and have your parent sign it, if you want to publish your work online.

Topics: suggest some additional topics in class. When ready to publish your work, please email it to:
teach3745@gmail.com

Hint: consider your audience! YOU will need to provide all of the information AND assume nothing about what your audience knows. Educate us!

1. A book review-include one direct quote and what you liked/disliked about the book.
2. Critical commentary about a novel, author, or body of work. Explain what it is and what you are commenting about. Your tone here is critical with evidence to back it up.
3. Critical commentary about an issue, same as #2 but now your critical tone is about a current issue, such as a political one, or a general one like the price of gas, food, or school safety.
4. An informational piece about a teen hobby or a way to make money, how to get scholarship money, go to college, etc.
