Character Education Focus
This week, we will focus on “This is It”.
This past week, we discussed “Speak
with Good Purpose”.

Next Week in First Grade
Literacy Block: Our story forthis week is called “The Night
Sky.” This story is a nonfiction account
of the moon, stars, constellations,
planets and comets. The words for the
week are some, many, night, shine,stars, planets, moon, and light. Forphonics, we will be focusing on the long
/e/ sound and the many ways it can be
spelled. In language, we will look at the
importance of capitalizing titles and
also introduce the concept of article
adjectives. In spelling, we will be
focusing on words with double letters.
We will continue to work with main
ideas and supporting details in our
writing. In literature, we will be
reading the story, Rapunzel.
Math: As we continue our nextchapter in math, Place Value,Data, and Graphs,
we will look at theones and tens place value and how these
“places” create numbers. We will also
talk about “1 more and 1 less.”
Science: We will begin our SolarSystem unit by talking
about the importance of our sun, the
phases of the moon, and the
constellations that are created by
stars.
