The Class Pet

1.  HFW: away, house, very, car, our, friend, school

2.  Phonics:

*R-controlled Vowels (or, ore)

(sore, form, born, shore, snore, worn, north)

*Endings -es

  (foxes, dishes, glasses, mixes, catches)

 

 

3.  Comprehension Skill:

Fact and Opinion

Fact - something you can prove        Ex. (Cats have sharp claws.)

Opinion - the way someone feels      Ex. (Cats are the best pet.)

 

4.  Grammar: Verbs that do NOT add -s

Practice sentence:  Choose the correct verb.

They (see, sees) Jim and Annie dance.

 

 

5.  Spelling Words: fix, fixes, class, classes, wish, wishes, kiss, kisses, bus, buses, friends, very

 

 

 

Nov.  29 - Dec. 3

Weekly Story:   Honey Bees

How is an insect community like a community of people?

 

HFW: also, other, family, some, new, their

 

Phonics:

Long vowel:  e, ee  (be, we, free, need, etc)

VC/CV words:  into, marker, fifteen, inside, middle, etc.

 

Comprehension Skill:

Compare and Contrast

 

Grammar: Nouns in a sentence

 Spelling: feet, we, she, be, he, green, tree, see, me, week, some, family

 

MATH:  

Topic 5 Test ( 11/30/21)

Please remember to save each daily Math Lesson page to use as a review for the Topic Test.  Once we have taken the test on the Topic, you may discard the pages. In Topic 5 students will use their knowledge of finding the missing part, then they will compare 2 equations to see if they are the same or different.  This can be challenging for those who are still learning basic addition and subtraction, but by continuing to talk through 1 or 2 problems with your child, the concept will stay fresh in their mind!

Phonemic Awareness:  Listen to and count the sounds in (Long u) words

Ending -ed

Model adding -ed to the end of the base word

Author's Purpose

-An author usually writes for several reasons.  Listed below are 3 of those reasons.

Use the acronym (PIE) to help you remember:

1.  Persuade

2.  Inform

3.  Entertainment

 

Grammar: Singular and Plural Nouns

 

Spelling: huge, tube, cute, mule, June, use, flute, rule, cube, rude, water, under

 

MATH:
