Attendance, Tardies, and Early Release
Don't be late, get to school by eight!
The bell rings at 7:55 am. The tardy bell is at 8:00am. Students who are tardy or leave school early for appointments interfere with their academic learning. We are also working on perfect attendance for special rewards as a class.
If your child plans to invite a limited number of friends to a birthday party outside of the school day, please send me the invitations in an envelope for distributing.
Celebrating a birthday is a special occasion, and if you would like to send in treats, we will celebrate during the last 15-20 mins. of the school day. Please send me an email email@example.com for the current number of students in our class.
Character Counts and Character Always
Our district utilizes the Character Counts philosophy. In order to instill good character within our students, our expectations include the following values from the CHARACTER COUNTS website:
Be honest • Don’t deceive, cheat or steal • Be reliable — do what you say you’ll do • Have the courage to do the right thing • Build a good reputation • Be loyal — stand by your family, friends and country
Treat others with respect; follow the Golden Rule • Be tolerant of differences • Use good manners, not bad language • Be considerate of the feelings of others • Don’t threaten, hit or hurt anyone • Deal peacefully with anger, insults and disagreements
Do what you are supposed to do • Persevere: keep on trying! • Always do your best • Use self-control • Be self-disciplined • Think before you act — consider the consequences • Be accountable for your choices
Play by the rules • Take turns and share • Be open-minded; listen to others • Don’t take advantage of others • Don’t blame others carelessly
Be kind • Be compassionate and show you care • Express gratitude • Forgive others • Help people in need
Do your share to make your school and community better • Cooperate • Get involved in community affairs • Stay informed; vote • Be a good neighbor • Obey laws and rules • Respect authority • Protect the environment
Character Always is a bridge between the philosophy of Character Counts and our positive classroom discipline.
Early Dismissal Days
Every Wednesday, the students will be released at 1:20 pm.
Second grade has lunch from 11:00-11:20, then a short recess immediately afterwards.
Please check out our district Nutrition Services web page. You can find ideas for healthy snacks, view or download the lunch menu, and add money to your child's lunch account through EZ PAY!
We are looking for volunteers to assist: in our classroom, doing small projects at home, chaperones for our field trip, and party planners for holidays and celebrations. Please let me know if you are able to assist. Thank you so much!
