This course is designed to provide you with the basic knowledge of chemistry and physics that will allow you to be successful in area-specific science classes in the future. The course will include lectures, projects, labs, and reports that focus on the course content. Also, this course will develop skills needed to be successful in future education and the work force.
By the end of the course, the student should be able to do the following:
· Comprehend and put into practice basic chemistry and physics principles and concepts.
· Know and use good laboratory behavior, including proper lab safety protocol.
· Have a greater curiosity of the world around them, and the ability to begin searching for answers to the questions that arise.
The following topics will be discussed throughout the course:
· Properties of Matter
· Periodic Table
· Bonds and Chemical Reactions
· Acids and Bases
· Mechanics
· Thermodynamics
· Waves
