Class Activities and Presentations

Projects in the 2016-17 school year included:

Me in a Bag: This is a beginning-of-the-year project where students get to know each other. Students gather approximately six objects or pictures to discuss themselves, their families, and their hobbies or interests. Students show these items and give a brief oral presentation before the class. This is meant to be a fun and interesting way for the sutdents to get to know their new classmates.

Holidays Around the World: Students toured the second grade classrooms and were introduced to diverse celebrations from various cultures. Students collected souvenirs and created journal entries.

Family Traditions: Students brought  home a packet to record special ways their families celebrate traditions. Students made presentations to the class and families on their traditions.

Wax Museum: Students selected a signifiant historical figure. They researched and created a biography of this person. They also created a costume and presented themselves as that person. Families were invited to tour the "museum".
