Kindergarten News

This week we are studying about Dental Health.  Please make sure your child is brushing at least twice a day and don’t forget to floss!  If we take care of our teeth we will have them all our life.  It is also important for your child to visit the dentist twice a year.

We celebrated our 100th Day of School!!!  We created some exciting things with 100 objects.  Thanks for sending in items to make it a success. We also celebrated Ground Hog’s Day.  We watched a news clip and the groundhog saw his shadow.  We have 6 more weeks of winter.

Next week we will be celebrating Valentine’s day.  We sent home a note with our valentine instructions.  Don’t forget to send your valentines and treats in the morning so we can organize our activities for the day.

This week we are learning the phonograms –ox and -ix.  .  Please practice this at home. Our new mastery words are up & down.  Look for environmental print that has these words.  Keep practicing all your numbers, letter, sounds and mastery words we have learned.  We are also starting our study of fractions.  Have your child practice “Fair Shares”. (Ex: Jane has 6 cookies.  She needs to share them with Joe.  Give out “fair shares” This is ½.)  Also have your child practice dividing a slice of bread in ½.

We sent home permission slips for the children to participate in the parade.  The cost is $3.00.  Please send this ASAP so we can pay for the hats.  If your child is not participating please check that box off and return it to school.

The cookie dough fund raiser ends Wednesday, February 8th.  Go out and sell.  This is a great fund raiser that benefits the children.   I wonder who will sell the most???

Our next fieldtrip is to The Aquarium of the Americas and IMAX.  This is an awesome trip.  Please sign and return your permission slip.  Don’t forget to enclose the money for your child and his/her chaperone.

Friday is our Spring Picture Day.  Raymar Photography will be here to take pictures.  Come with your best smile. If your child is taking pictures they can dress in dressy/casual attire. (No tank tops, spaghetti straps, flip flops or backless shoes may be worn and shorts must be of modest length.)

Don’t forget you need to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days.  No other shoes are allowed on the gym floor.

We are collecting box tops.  Please turn in your completed forms.

Have a great week!
