French III Pre-AP Syllabus


Course Description


This is a rigorous course taught almost entirely in the French language, focusing on maximizing fluency in reading and listening comprehension, speaking, and writing of the French language in preparation for the AP French IV Language course. The course incorporates the study of French language, cultures, history, and literature to form a base for analytical writing that demonstrates correct grammar applications, and critical writing concepts, formats, and styles.



Required Materials

1 3-ring binder

1 blue or black ink pen

1 French-English dictionary

1 blank CD (if the student has access to a computer)

Other materials may be required for projects. Students will be notified at the time of the assignment.



Pre-AP students must have access to the text outside of class Students may check out at textbook and are responsible for checked-out texts. Those with access to a computer may get an electronic copy of the book if they provide a blank disc. Discs are available in the library. The text is also available online.


Each student will be provided with a workbook that must be kept in their binder all year. Students are responsible for workbooks and will not be issued another.


Student Conduct & Discipline

 All students are expected to follow the Dallas ISD code of conduct.

 Academic Integrity

 Cheating and plagiarism will not be tolerated and will result in a failing grade for that assignment and possible disciplinary action.
