Miss Sullivan-Grade One

Welcome to first grade at Saint Andrew the Apostle School.

First grade is a leap into reading, writing, and independence.

I look forward to working with you and your child to achieve these goals.

  • May Crowning will take place on Wednesday, May 8th; it is a half day of school.  Both the eight grade and first grade students are involved in the ceremony.  Students MUST wear their dress-up clothes: NO jeans, sneakers, or t-shirts please!
  • The purpose of the reading log is to encourage your child to read every night.  Please be sure to fill it out and sign it.  Return the logs EVERY Monday and if your child read EVERY night, a reward will be given.  Let's work together to build great readers! smiley

Just a reminder: When helping your child with homework, please do not tell them the answers.  The purpose of the homework is to reinforce what has been taught.  If your child is having a difficult time, please write me a note and I will go over the material with them again.

  • Your child's name should be on EVERYTHING they bring into school.  This includes sweatshirts, sweaters, lunch boxes, etc.
  • With the colder weather please make sure you send your child into school with a sweater and or sweatershirt and or jacket.  As long as it's not raining, students will be going outside for recess.
  • Lastly, any money being sent into school should be placed in an envelope with your child’s name, amount, and what the money is for.  This helps me organize what I keep and what I send down to the office.  Thank you!

*Please make sure you are reading EVERYDAY with your child.  If your child is struggling with something, please practice at home and let me know how things are progressing. PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT!!!

EVERY Tuesday I have remedial after school until 3:30pm.  If your child stays, you can pick them up at the front of the school at 3:30pm.

Please be sure to return the Tuesday folder the next day, along with ALL work.  In addition, please make sure you sign the green sheet within the folder.

Please make sure your child comes into school with AT LEAST 4-5 sharpened pencils EVERYDAY!
