Dear Parents and Students: We are looking forward to our Spring celebration concert. The Spring Concert is on Thursday, May 12th, at 9:30 a.m. at Sunset Ridge and at 6:00 p.m. for Red/Orange Band, Beginning Orchestra and Chorus. 7:15 p.m. for Advanced Orchestra, Orange Band, Purple Band, and Jazz Band at East Hartford Middle School. Please make sure all your music is prepared for the concert and your instrument is performance ready (extra reeds, rosin, strings and oil). Concert Reminder and Information: Concert Week Schedule: Monday, May 9th – dress rehearsal in the gymnasium at 2:00 p.m. for Beginning Orchestra, and Red/Blue Band. Students should bring their book bags, coats, and items for dismissal. Tuesday, May 10th - dress rehearsal in the gymnasium at 2:00 p.m. for Advanced Orchestra, Purple Band, and Orange BandStudents should bring their book bags, coats, and items for dismissal. Wednesday, May 11th – dress rehearsal in the gymnasium at 2:00 p.m. for Jazz Band and Chorus Students should bring their book bags, coats, and items for dismissal. Concert Dress Please remember to wear your Black and White to school– all students should be appropriately dressed for their concert on May 12th.
Black Bottoms, Black socks, White Tops, Dress Shoes (No jeans, short skirts above the knee – dress code applies) You may bring a change of clothes – must be school uniform. Students can also choose to wear their concert attire the entire day.
Thursday, May 12th – Concert 9:30 a.m. Sunset Ridge Gymnasium Morning Details Students will be called down by grade level to the gym to warm-up. Students will sit with their musical ensemble. The morning concert begins at 9:30 a.m. Red, Blue and Orange Band students will drop off cases in recital hall and bring music and instrument to the gym. (Red and Blue Band will drop off in room 114 and Orange Band will drop off in room 116.) Once you are in the gym you will go directly to the band set up and get ready to perform. Purple Band and Jazz Band will drop off cases in the cafeteria and then proceed to the gym with their instrument and music to sit in their designated area. Beginning Orchestra students will unpack at their lockers and then proceed to room 110, get tuned and then proceed to the gym with their instrument and music to sit in their designated area. Advanced Orchestra students will unpack at their lockers and then proceed to room 111, get tuned and then proceed to the gym with their instruments and music to sit in their designated areas.

(do not enter until all performances have ended) All concerts are mandatory. Any unexcused absences will result in disciplinary action. If you have an excused absence, please bring a note to your music teacher so that we can mark it excused in our records. (Excused absences are due to illness or family emergency preventing the child from attending.) If an absence is unexcused the student will not be able to participate in field day activity. We are looking forward to a great concert. The students have made great progress! Please continue to encourage daily practice so that they have a wonderful experience.
