Who am I?
My name is Mark Sweatlock and I am a Math Teacher at Minisink Valley High School. Minisink has been my home since third grade and I am very excited to begin my teaching career in the district. I received my Bachelor's in Mathematics from SUNY Oneonta and a Master's of Science in Teaching at Pace University. I love to golf and I am also a certified high school football offical.
A teacher's goal is often to get the students to understand. Personally, it is my thought that the teacher is the one who needs to understand. In order for me to be successful, I must understand the differing skills and abilities of all my learners. Understanding who they are will allow me to provide them with an education that is meaningful to them. I make it my goal to create meaningful and personable relationships will each of my students. By doing this, I feel that I will be able to maximize their potentials and provide them with a quality learning experience.
Education is a growing process. During their time in school, students will grow in a multitude of ways. Education will provide students with exciting new chalenges that will help build student confidence. Education will teach students how to critically think; a skill that goes way beyond the walls of any classroom. In the end, that is what really matters.
