Language Arts Unit 5 review

WB pages 445-450:

p. 445 read the base word, choose and write the correct

           suffix from the word bank to each base word. Then,

           read the story below about Rex the friendly puppy. 

           Circle all the words that have a suffix.    

p. 446  Match the base word to its suffix.  Write the word. 

p. 447 complete sentences with vocabulary words from the

           word bank.

p. 448-449 read “Palmer’s Permanent Bridge” and identify fact

                  & opinion from the nonfiction story.  Write two facts

                  and two opinions on the chart on.

p. 450 review and write pronouns that take the place of the

           underlined words in the sentences.  

* Spelling sentences due Friday (20 words)

p. 479-481 Unit 3 Self Reflection.  Think and look back at all the different skills learned for adding and subtracting 3-digit numbers from lessons 12-19.  Think about what you learned and complete the sentences for 1, 2, and 3.  Read Plory’s “Cookie Order.”  Recognize that the Bake Stars need to make between 400 and 500 cookies all together and make the same number for the 3 different kinds of cookies.

Language Arts Unit 5 review

WB pages 453-458:

p. 453-454 choose the correct prefix to add to the base word.   

          Then, read the story below about the twins Jan and

          Dan.  Circle all the words that have a prefix.   Fill in the

           circle to the meaning of the prefix word.  Have fun

           completing the word search puzzle below.    

p. 455 Unscramble the vocabulary/high frequency words, fill in

           the boxes with the words from the word bank.

p. 456-457 read “Our Crane Mobile” and recognize cause and

           effect in the story.  Answer the five questions. 

p. 458 review and write Singular and Plural Pronouns that

           take the place of the underlined words in the

           sentences.  Read the short story below and fill in the

       chart for Pronouns that name Only One or More than One

Library Day – from Mrs. Crown

Second Grade Library Story Time March 23-27, 2020

It’s Spring! So let’s listen to a story about Spring. This will be a special story time because we will be listening to a story by Daniel Kirk, the same author who wrote The Library Mouse series that we have been reading all year. So let’s go!

Please ask your parents to go to You Tube. Please type in “Miss Sophie’s Storytime” and click on it. When you get to the site, please click on “Videos” and scroll down till you see the book, The thing about Spring by Daniel Kirk.

After listening to the story, think for a minute. Do you sometimes have days when you are not happy? Do you have family or friends who try to change your mood for the better? Is that what Mouse, Bird and Bear are trying to do for Rabbit? Have you ever tried to help a friend go from being sad to being happy?

And now something special! Ask your parents to go to “Ready, Set, Draw!” Once on the site, scroll down to Ready, Set, Draw! The Library Mouse and More by Daniel Kirk! Follow along as Mr. Kirk teaches you to draw Sam the library mouse as well as three different types of whales!

Spelling Sentences may be turned in Thursday in order to have Friday off

WB pages 459-464:

p. 459-460 choose the correct consonant pattern word to

          complete the phrase and word on the second part.   

          Then, read the story below about Matt.  Circle all the

           words that have a consonant pattern.   On the back,

           read the clues then write the consonant pattern words

           in the puzzle. Unscramble the underlined words.  Write

           the word for each sentence to make sense.  Look at

           the word bank to check your spelling.      

p. 461 Complete the short story by filling in the blanks with

            words from the word bank.   

p. 462-463 read “The Space Tent” and analyze the plot of the

         story and identify the theme.  Answer the four questions. 

p. 464 Review Pronouns Using I and Me.  Read the sentence,

           circle the correct pronoun, then write the sentence.
