Vocabulary: zero, number line, degrees Fahrenheit, degrees Celsius, negative numbers, positive numbers, opposites, inequality, ordered pair, x-axis, y-axis, x-coordinate, y-coordinate

zero: none

number line: a line with equally-spaced marks named by numbers

degrees Fahrenheit: a standard unit for measuring temperature in the customary system

degrees Celsius: a standard unit for measuring temperature in the metric system

negative numbers:  all the numbers to the left of zero on the number line

positive numbers: all the numbers to the right of zero on a number line

opposites: integers that are the same distance, but in opposite directions, from zero on a number line

inequality: a number sentence that shows two quantities are not equal

ordered pair: a pair of numbers used to locate a point on a coordinate grid

x-axis: the horizontal line on a coordinate grid

y-axis: the vertical line on a coordinate grid

x-coordinate: the first number in an ordered pair that tells the distance to move horizontally

y-coordinate: the second number in an ordered pair that tells the distance to move vertically
