Chapter 2: Compare and Order Whole Numbers

Lesson 1: Compare Numbers. Objective: To use number lines and place value to compare numbers.

Lesson 2: Order Numbers. Objective: To use number lines and place value to order numbers through millions.

Lesson 3: Problem Solving Strategy: Make a Table. Objective: To solve problems by using the strategy make a table.

Lesson 4: Round Numbers. Objective: To round whole numbers to a given place value.


Vocabulary: compare, place value, order, round

compare: to describe whether a number is equal to, less than, or greater than anothe number

place value: the value of a digit in a number, based on its position

order: to describe which of a set of numbers is the greatest, which is the least, and where the others fall between them based on their values

round: to replace a number with another number that tells about how many or how much
