SUPPLIES

Text Book - Every student will be administered a text book that should be covered at all times.  They will have one week to get it covered at the start of the year.  Every day after that will be considered being unprepared for class.

Packets - Also, students will be given a packet at the start of every chapter we study this year.  The packet is important because much of their homework will be assigned from it (so they don’t have to lug the book home every night), and also contains alternative notes to aid students in their studying.

Please be sure to purchase the following supplies and always bring them to class:

3 or 5-Subject notebook (there will be lots of note taking this year)

Pencils – You should always have a minimum of two sharpened pencils in class with you at all times.  Math work, unless otherwise directed, is always done in pencil.  You will not receive credit for work done in pen.

Calculator – It can be stored in classroom closet to ensure you don’t lose it.  Students will be allowed to use a calculator quite a bit this year.

Ruler – Students will be using a ruler almost every day.  Experience has shown me that when I provide the rulers they either get lost, broken, or the like so I am requesting they come with their own.

It is your responsibility to have these items in class at all times.  Students will not be allowed to freely return to their lockers during class time.  Additionally, every three times you are unprepared for class you will receive a call home.  Every five times you will receive a one half-hour detention. Any further infractions will be submitted to the administrators.

DAILY HOMEWORK

To receive credit it must include:

þ   Class heading (including the assignment – page and exercise numbers)

þ   Copy of the original problem (numbered) – unless it is a word problem

þ   Steps used to solve the problem – (In other words, show all your work)

þ   Must be done in pencil and be neat and organized

þ   Is due the very next time class meets

Homework will not be accepted if it is done in pen or if it is not in class on time.

If you are absent, you are responsible for getting missed work – check with classmates or myself.

If there is no formal homework assigned students should take their notes home to study.

TESTS AND QUIZZES

Tests are always announced at least one week in advance.  Formal study guides are sometimes given, but topics for review and study are always communicated.

Quizzes are short, sometimes timed, and may be unannounced.

Both are done in pencil or your grade is reduced by ten points.

Proper heading is required on both or your grade is reduced by five points.

SHORT AND LONG-TERM PROJECTS

Projects are due in class on the assigned due date.

Lateness Consequences:

One day (-10)

Two Days (-20)

Three Days (-30)

Four Days (-40)

More than four days (no credit)

If you are asked to redo a project, ten points will be subtracted from your score.
