Department Philosophy: To provide quality science education to all students at Tucker High School.

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to the concepts of physical science.  It includes advanced development of critical thinking skills.  Physical Science is a state requirement for graduation.  Students are expected to master all concepts taught.  The, A+ Education Reform Act 2000, stipulates that students completing Physical Science must take an, End-of-Course Test (EOCT).  Students are encouraged to study and maintain a class notebook for future reference.  Students, as well as, parents and guardians are encouraged to visit the state website for a detailed list of objectives and indicators of mastery.

**EOCT**
 
** The EOCT (End of Course Test) will comprise 15% of the final grade. **

Required Materials: Binders/notebooks, blue or black pen and pencil are required everyday.   Students with calculators may at any time be awarded with bonus points.  The notebook grade will be a part of the class-daily grade counted twice along with the performance grade.  Textbooks are required on designated days.
CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS: ALL REQUIRED MATERIALS SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO CLASS EVERYDAY!!!
  • DO NOT BE LATE TO CLASS!!! School policy for tardiness will be enforced.
Be in your seat ready to work with, pencil sharpened, notebook open, and quiet at the sound of the bell.
  • NO CELL PHONES, I-PODS, CD PLAYERS ARE ALLOWED!!!
  • STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW THE TUCK & PULL POLICY.
5.  Sleeping during class is not allowed.
  • No vulgar language.
  • You are required to remain in your seat until the bell rings.
  • Do not speak while others are talking (this includes the teacher as well as classmates.)
9.   Cheating on any assignment will be subject to a grade of zero.
10. All homework, projects and assignments must be turned in before the school day ends or else the assignment will receive a 20% reduction in the grade.

     For any violation of the above classroom rules will result in the following:  
  Consequences:
1st – Verbal warning
2nd - Parental contact
3rd - Teacher detention
4th – Administrative referral
 
Late Assignments: All late assignments must be completed on a case by case basis at the teacher’s discretion.
Make-up Policy: Students must request their make-up assignment from the teacher as soon as possible.
Re-do Policy: All students will be given an opportunity to master course content in an effort to ensure proficiency on the GHSGT, EOCT, and final examination.
