First of all, I would like to thank you for allowing me to teach your child in the 1st grade. My name is Tammy Bland and I have been in the educational field for 6 years now. The first year I was a substitute and this is when I realized that education is where I wanted to be. The following year Refugio Elementary hired me as a full-time instructional aide. I worked with special needs children and worked in various types of classrooms during this time. While being an aide I went back to school to get my certification. I am certified in two states, Texas and Arizona to teach Pre-K through 3rd.
In my classroom, we will have fun as we learn. I want my students to be excited about learning. There will be no child left behind no matter what background they come from or learning problems they may have. Each student in my classroom will be treated with the utmost respect and get the same education as everyone else.
I am available for conference Monday-Friday 9:00 am-10: 00 am.
You can call me on my cell @ (***-***-****) to set up an appointment if you need to talk in person. You can also call me anytime with concerns during school hours and after. If it is really important I will also take calls on weekends.
My email address is ********@gmail.com
classroom Expectations Classroom Rules
1. Kindly keep your hands to yourself 1. Please walk everywhere you go
2. If you break it, you fix it 2. Keep your desk free of clutter and mess
3. Raise your hand quietly until called upon 3. If we disagree with one another we will have a meeting with a teacher and discuss it
4. Please respect others property 4. Our legs, hands, arms, feet, and teeth should remain in our own space and not others
5. Sit quietly until called upon 5. If you borrow something from the teacher or another student return it to the proper owner
6. Respect the schools and my computers as if the were your own 6. Chairs have 4 legs, they are all to remain on the floor and are made to sit in, not stand in
My expectations and rules are not complicated and a very simple for the class to follow. Following my expectations will be rewarded with a reward system but not following classroom expectations will end up with consequences. One of the main expectation is when it comes to computers and technology usage. When a student is using one of these devices they are only to be used for the assignment at hand. They are not to be searching the internet or using any unauthorized sites by me or the school.
Rewards are given in a point system. For each grade earned on any paper turned into me that was done for homework or individually there will be points given. At the end of the week we will add up the points and they will be turned in for class dollars. At the end of the month or if I choose spontaneously on the spot the student may buy things from our classroom mall.
Consequences are something that I do not like to give but they are required for the student to understand what they did wrong. I do not like sending a student to the office unless the offense is severe enough that warrants that consequence. I will start off with verbal warnings, then we will go to color/pin pull, loss of privileges (such as library, free time), a note home to parent, a call to parent, a meeting with parent and if they persist on breaking the rules and everything else did not work, a trip to the office.
7:45 First Bell
2:00-3:00 Science/Social Studies
3:00-3:30 Question Time
During question time this will allow the students to get with me on any work that they do not understand or need help with before going home.
I will be sending homework home around 2 to 3 times a week. The homework is due the next morning and if not turned in by 8:30 it is considered late and points will be deducted.
Students will earn grades only on individual work or group work. If I help with work as a whole group it is for practice and they will receive a participation grade only.
Once again I want to Thank You and Welcome you and your child to our class. I will be posting on the website monthly with any updates or important messages along with weekly notes sent home with the student.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
