What is Netiquette?
Netiquette is Internet etiquette. It refers to the correct and acceptable ways to communicate online and is the basic outline of dos and don'ts of nonverbal communication.
Many states have laws pertaining to bullying, but cyberbullying is often not included. However, many schools have begun to implement policies to protect students from the growing threat of cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying policies should include:
- definition of the terms bullying, intimidation, and threats of violence
- descriptions of expected behaviors
- statements regarding consequences for violation of the policy
- procedures for reporting
- statements that prohibit bullying, violence, and threats of violence
Soical Networking Policies
Most social media networks have similar policies. Social media netiquette rules generally include being respectful, engaging others without hate, respecting privacy, fact checking information, and correcting mistakes.
