Welcome To Fifth Grade Introduction Letter

Dear Parent(s),

Welcome to FIFTH GRADE!  My name is Mrs. Mebane. I am your child’s Reading, Language Arts, Spelling/Vocabulary, and Social Studies teacher this year.  I am looking forward to a year filled with exciting learning experiences. My goal is to move all of my students academically to an advanced or proficient level.  I hope we can work as a team: teacher-child-parent.  I believe that communication, studying, consistency, and positive reinforcement will be the key to success for your child.

Your child’s education is of the utmost importance to me, as I know it is to you.  In order to insure that your child understands the concepts presented in class, he/she will receive study guides and homework weekly.  Homework is a reinforcement of the skills.   Homework is your child’s responsibility.

We have rules and procedures for the classroom, hallways, restrooms, and cafeteria that your child must follow.  If these rules are broken, your child will receive either a warning, a note home, a phone call home, a conference, or a referral to the office.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child, please feel free to contact me by writing a note, calling the school office at 416-8080 (leave a message), or email me:

On this site, you will find many of the skills that we are covering in class as well as interactive sites that go along with the skills.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.  It is only with students, parents, and teachers working together that we can provide your child with the best possible education.  I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year.
