Serious Information For Families:
Working for the Moscow School District is my dream job. I am a lifelong Idahoan; I grew up right here on the Palouse. I graduated from Potlatch Jr./Sr. High and continued my education at the University of Idaho. Many of my practicum experiences were in Moscow School District's elementary schools. My year-long student teaching was in a 2/3 combination class in Potlatch.
After graduating with my bachelors, I worked for 2 years as a preschool teacher locally, at Moscow Day School, and finished my requirements for a reading endorsement through Lewis-Clark State College. Later in Boise, I worked part-time at an after-school program and soon became a full-time lead teacher in the 1-year-old classroom.
My first elementary teaching job was a job-share position in 1st grade at an arts magnet school. I was hired to teach math, science, social studies, and health. Then next year, I accepted a full time teaching position with my grade level team and taught there for 2 more years.
When my youngest daughter was born, I stepped out of the classroom and began my online masters program in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on intermediate and middle school mathematics through the University of Idaho; I graduated in May 2019. Assisting many family friends' intermediate children with mathematics tutoring or homework help fostered a passion for intermediate mathematics instruction and working with older students as well.
This is my fourth year at Lena Whitmore Elementary School. In past years I have had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten. I loved the energy, learning, students, and families! Kindergarten is a year of great growth and excitement.
This is my second year as the Title 1 teacher. I find it rewarding to work with students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. Each grade level has rigorous standards and curricula; I enjoy supporting students as they navigate these learning opportunities and enjoy the journey students navigate as we learn together year after year.
They say if you pick a profession you love, you will never work a day in your life. I have a great passion for teaching, learning, reading, mathematics, and people; it certainly doesn't feel like "work"...at least, most of the time it doesn't. Thank you for allowing me to help your child learn and grow here at Lena.
