The scientific method is the process scientists use to test out theories and answer important questions. You can be scientist too by following these simple steps. Good luck!
Problem ![]() |
Choose a problem and state it as a question. |
Research
|
Read, make observations and get information about your problem. |
Hypothesis ![]() |
Make a prediction about what you think will happen. After doing your research, try to predict the answer to the problem. Another term for hypothesis is 'educated guess'. This is usually stated like " If I...(do something) then...(this will occur)"
An example would be, "If I grow plants under green light bulbs, then they will grow faster than plants growing under red light bulbs" |
Experiment
|
The fun part! Design a test or procedure to confirm or disprove your hypothesis. Conduct your experiment and gather your data. |
Analysis
|
Record what happened during the experiment. Also known as 'data'. Create a chart or graph using the data you gathered during the experiment. |
Conculusion
|
Review the data and check to see if your hypothesis was correct. It is not "bad" if your hypothesis was wrong, because you still learned something! |
