Cell Wall and Cell Membrane
What is the function of the cell wall and cell membrane?
The cell wall is like a wooden box that surrounds the cell. It is stiff and rigid. It helps the cell to keep its shape and it protects the cell.
The cell membrane is like a plastic bag with tiny holes in it. The holes are there to let some things move in and out of the cell. The membrane is flexible and can change its shape.
Which of the school does the cell wall and the cell membrane represent?
Think about your school. Which part of the school acts like the cell wall (what gives our school its structure and shape)? Which part of the school acts like the cell membrane (think about how you enter the school everyday)?
